What I see, is what I carry

I’ve been thinking more about what makes me driven to do this.
A lot of it happens before or after the shot. A glance, a shift.. something real that slips through without effort. I try to stay ready for that. Let the camera roll. Let it breathe.
What matters to me is the feel of the day. How people move. What the suns up to, if the animals are stirred up and the people are alive. The in-between stuff that can’t be repeated.
I sometimes have a tough time with people, self admittedly from my own anxiety. However, this work is changing that every single day I continue.
This journey working with others has been everything. The trust they give me, the time we spend, the little moments that don’t make it into the final cut but still mean something. I carry all of that with me. It’s now a part of me.. and I’m here for it.
Sometimes I don’t notice what I’ve caught until I’m back home going through footage. And then one frame hits, and I remember why I live for this.

It’s rooted in values. Steady, thoughtful, and real. Something that holds weight, not because it was planned that way, but because it came from being present. Being in our own beautiful little moments. The shapes that make up my journey in this life.
And I’m grateful for the dream, for the process, and for the people who let me in.
